Kilnside Farm

The farm shop.

Our own beef, lamb and honey, our cider and juice, and a shelf of good things from people we know nearby. Open Monday to Saturday, nine to five, on Moor Park Lane.

Our produce

Raised here, on grass, without hurrying.

Our Dexter cattle and our sheep live on the fields you can see from the lane. When they’re ready, so is the meat. We don’t sell it online because it changes day to day, so the best thing is to ask what’s in, or drop by.

Dexter beef

Small cattle, big flavour.

Dexters are small, hardy, and happy outdoors on grass. They grow slowly, which is exactly why the beef is so good: deep in colour, well marbled, and full of flavour.

What we have depends on the week, but you’ll often find:

  • Our best beef sausages and burgers
  • Braising steak, diced shin and diced chuck
  • Liver, kidney and heart, for those who know

Lamb

New season lamb, when it’s ready.

Lambing is the busiest, coldest, most sleepless and best few weeks of our year. The lambs grow up on the farm, in the fields and under the orchard trees, and when the new season lamb is ready we’ll say so here and in our newsletter.

Stock goes quickly. Get in touch and we’ll tell you what’s in, or put something aside for you.

Get told when lamb’s ready

In spring the lambs spend their days in the orchard. The cider has never complained.

Honey by James

Whatever the bees found this summer.

Pure, unfiltered honey from our own hives, in 227g and 454g jars.

Unfiltered means it goes from comb to jar with as little in between as possible, and it changes with the seasons: pale and delicate in a year of spring blossom, darker and richer after a long hot summer. It may set over time, which is a sign it’s the real thing. Stand the jar in warm water to bring it back.

On sale in the farm shop and on our market stall, where there’s usually a frame of comb to look at.

From our neighbours

Good things from just up the road.

We only make what we can make well, so alongside our own produce we stock a few things from local people whose work we love.

And of course our own cider and apple juice, including the mulled cider pack when the weather turns.
